Could do with getting going with this thing again.
Running has fallen by the wayside over the past few months due to an injury I’m trying to sort out first. Doing more on the bike though, so may need to change the name of this blog.

Rep Training - 8 x 400m with 400m rest →
Pretty decent reps session today (click title of this post to open the Garmin Connect page). I was targeting 5:20/mile pace on each rep and actually managed to go a little quicker than that on all but the final rep (which was uphill, so that’s allowed).

1 hour 23 minutes 46 seconds
…is my (stopwatch) time for the Birmingham Black Country Half Marathon this morning. It was a tough course and while mostly flat along the canal from Wolverhampton to Birmingham, the path conditions were poor with large puddles dotted everywhere, ready to take the spring out of your step. And the canal bridges really took their toll, with their steep, sharp climbs that completely mess up...

Birmingham Black Country Half Marathon 2012
…entered! The race is on 7 July and takes the form of a point-to-point time trial from Wolverhampton to Birmingham, along a canal. I last did it in 2009 (1h26m22s) and, while I’m a little off the boil with my fitness, I do hope to beat that time. Anything under 1h25m would be a result. That means running 6:29 miles. Hmm…

10K Training Run
I’m a bit late posting this, but did a decent 10K training effort at the weekend - http://connect.garmin.com/activity/161524341
I blew up after the first three miles, however, and trotted along for the next couple at recovery/steady pace. Only really picked up the race pace again in the final mile. My overall time was 39m03s, which is encouraging. I reckon I lost 2-3mins in the middle part,...
Time to start this Tumblr thing again, after neglecting it for the last six months or so. First race of the season - not counting Hellrunner back in February - is the Lichfield Half Marathon on 5 May. Last year’s time was 1h22m. PB for a half marathon is 1h17m (Wolverhampton, last September). I’m realistically aiming to get something in between these times - hopefully on the right side...
